Aging In Place

aging in placeWe're all getting older. The question is: Can you stay in the home you love, or will you have to move? For baby boomers aging in place is a concern.

The oldest baby boomers (defined by the US Census Bureau as those born between 1946 and 1964) have reached 65 as of the end of 2011, and this trend will peak in 2030 to more than 72 million, or 1 in 5 Americans.

Thanks to advancements in technology, independence is possible well into our golden years. There are a few simple things that can be done to make life easier as we age.

We can change out your traditional door handles for an easier to manage lever-type. We can also swap out hard to turn faucets with lever handles, and add drawer pulls to the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen and bath areas.

Installing grab bars inside shower and water closet areas is a big help.

As accessibility needs change, we can convert standard tubs and showers into safer and more usable areas. The challenge for us in bathrooms is to make these features look as if they were designed into the area from the start. We can show you detailed pictures of just how we have done this.

Give us a call and let us show you how we could make these modifications in your home. Also remember to visit our gallery and testimonials pages for more pictures and information about our work.
